What it means in practice

The booking links and availability widgets here go to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. If you book after following one, GetYourGuide pays me a percentage of what you spent, out of their margin rather than your pocket — you pay exactly what you would have paid going to them directly. Prices printed on this site are the “from” figures GetYourGuide displayed at the time of writing, and the widget beside them re-prices by date and season.

What it does not mean

It does not buy a recommendation, and the shape of the site is the evidence. The most repeated advice here is that no tour can promise you a view of Mount Fuji, that the cheapest tours in this catalogue are the best rated, and that on the right clear morning an independent train trip serves some readers better than any booking — none of which is how advertising works. Where a tour’s review pool is thin or carries a complaint, the review says so: the budget 5th Station review reproduces its one written complaint in full, and the prices page weighs every tour against doing the day yourself.

What I am not

Not Mount Fuji’s official administration, not a tour operator, and not GetYourGuide. Official climbing information — season, fees, safety — is published at fujisan-climb.jp, and wherever an official figure appears on this site it is attributed and dated to the time of writing. I never name the operator company behind a tour, I name guides only where reviewers named them first, and reviewer quotes at the reviews hub are verbatim or trimmed at sentence boundaries, never rewritten.
